Hope and Wholeness in Christ • ~10 min read
Dear friends, in our journey through God's design for sexuality and wholeness, we've explored many beautiful truths. We've seen God's original perfect plan and His grace that meets us in our brokenness. Today, we turn our eyes to the ultimate hope — the glorious future God promises to those who love Him and follow His ways. It's a future where every tear is wiped away, every sorrow vanquished, and complete wholeness, joy, and peace will be realized in a new creation. This isn't just wishful thinking; it's a sure promise from our faithful God.
When we think of the challenges and heartaches of life, especially those related to our human experience and relationships, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed. But the Bible offers an incredible vision of a world where such pain will be no more. The book of Revelation paints a vivid picture of this blessed future:
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Revelation 21:4-5
Imagine a world without tears! No more grief over loss, no more sorrow from disappointment, no more crying due to hurt, and absolutely no more pain, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. This promise is all-encompassing. It speaks to a complete eradication of every negative experience that mars our present existence. The very source of all these "former things" — sin — will be gone. God Himself declares, "Behold, I make all things new." This isn't just a repair job; it's a complete renewal, a fresh start, initiated and guaranteed by the Creator of the universe. What a profound comfort this offers to every heart burdened by the struggles of this life!
Our hope isn't just for an absence of pain, but for the presence of perfect righteousness and joy in a renewed world. The Bible assures us that this planet, marred by sin, will be transformed into a glorious home for the redeemed.
Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
2 Peter 3:13
This verse from Peter echoes the prophetic words of Isaiah (Isaiah 65:17, Isaiah 66:22) and points us to a future where God's original creation is restored to its pristine glory, and even beyond. The key phrase here is "wherein dwelleth righteousness." This means that in the new earth, sin and its consequences will be entirely absent. Everything will be in perfect harmony with God's character and His holy law. Imagine living in a world where every thought, every action, every relationship is characterized by pure righteousness, love, and truth. This is the dwelling place God is preparing for His faithful children, a place of perfect wholeness and spiritual purity.
The ultimate promise of eternal life is not just a place, but a profound relationship. It is the joy of living in the unhindered presence of God Himself, where every aspect of our being finds complete fulfillment and wholeness.
And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
Revelation 22:3-5
This passage reveals several incredible truths about our eternal home. First, "there shall be no more curse." The curse of sin, which brought death and suffering into the world, will be completely removed (Genesis 3:17-19). Instead, the very "throne of God and of the Lamb" will be there, signifying His direct, personal presence and reign. We will serve Him perfectly, without the pull of sin or selfish motives. Most wonderfully, "they shall see his face." This speaks of an intimate, unhindered communion with God, a closeness we can only dream of now. His character, His name, will be fully reflected in us. And just as He is the source of all life, He will be the source of all light, meaning His presence will dispel all darkness, ignorance, and confusion. We will "reign for ever and ever" with Him, sharing in His glorious kingdom. This is the ultimate picture of wholeness—being perfectly aligned with God, living in His light, and serving Him with pure joy for eternity.
The promise of eternal life and a new creation is the glorious culmination of God's plan for humanity. It is a future not just free from the pain and sorrow of sin, but filled with His righteous presence, perfect peace, and complete wholeness. For those who faithfully follow Him, God assures us of a home where every tear is wiped away, where righteousness dwells, and where we will live in intimate communion with Him forever. This is our blessed hope, a steadfast anchor for the soul, and the ultimate realization of God's loving design for us.
