- Participants must have a basic understanding of biblical principles and Christian counseling concepts.
- Completion of introductory courses in counseling or a related field is recommended.
- Access to a computer or mobile device with internet connectivity for online course materials and discussions.
- A Bible (preferably in the participant's native language)
Participants in this course will be equipped with fundamental counseling techniques that align with their spiritual role. They will learn effective listening, empathy, and communication skills and be taught to address specific challenges encountered by people that preachers can address. It also promotes ethical boundaries and self-care for preachers as counselors.
Upon completing DSW 506, participants will be able to:
- Articulate the importance of counseling in pastoral ministry.
- Demonstrate effective listening, empathy, and communication skills in counseling.
- Address specific challenges encountered by individuals, such as grief, trauma, and relationships.
- Maintain ethical boundaries and prioritize self-care as counselors.
